Nightwing first appeared in DC Comics in 1963 in the comic Superman as Nightwing, a comic set in Kandor where Superman has no powers. He became a regular DC Comic star when Batman's partner, Dick Greyson, outgrew the identity of Robin and took on the Nightwing persona.
